Past Glory

Prodigy is a one of its kind event that aims at bringing Prodigies across the length and breadth of Delhi & NCR schools into one arena and pit their wits and talents against each other in a variety of competitions. The purpose of this business oriented event is to tap the energies and capture the attention of all creative, innovative and talented minds of the age group 16-18 years by the means of an intriguing order of events. The intentions of the same are in consonance with the SSCBS philosophy of spotting and developing business talent of the youth in the country.

Organized on 5th November,2007 at National Science Centre, Prodigy ‘07 witnessed participation from over 40 schools.

Excitement ran high and tension even higher as the students geared up to competitions that stimulated eclectic thinking processes, tested the participants analytical and creative abilities, as well as their knowledge and interest in the business world by means of 3 events – Acumen (The Brainstorming Quiz), Bull’s Eye (The Stock Exchange Simulation Game) and AdVent (The Ad Making Competition).AdVent was for the SRK and Jay Leno’s who enjoyed themselves to the hilt. They acted and presented radio jingles from different genres. The next one was the nail biting rounds of Bull’s Eye that was an instant hit among the students. What followed was an even more thrilling quiz, Acumen conducted by Pranab Mukherjee himself. His spur-of-the-moment questions left everybody awestruck.

Carrying forth this lineage Prodigy ‘08 was hosted by SSCBS on the 6th November 2008 at the Shah Auditorium, Civil Lines. The auditorium was packed with students from 32 schools from Delhi and NCR. Like last year, Prodigy ’08 too had highly stimulating and interesting competitions in store for the participants which promised to test their analytical and creative skills as well their knowledge of, and interest in, the world of business. The excitement in the air was palpable as students were quizzed on Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Abilities, and Business & General Awareness in Acumen (The Brainstorming Quiz)  by the famed and very witty quizmaster-Mr. Pranab Mukherjee. Students unleashed their creativity on stage in Marketing Pitcher (The Market Campaigning Competition). From Cell phones for housewives to footwear for dogs and high heels for old ladies, the budding marketers of the future left no stone unturned in convincing the audience (and the judges of course!) about the features and USPs of their products, letting their role-plays, advertisements and jingles to do the talking. The highlight of the event was Bull’s Eye (The Stock Exchange Simulation Game) which gave the students a glimpse into the workings of the exciting world of stock markets and whetted their appetites to know more about the larger world of finance. The overall trophy for the best school was bagged by Montfort School.

Prodigy ‘07 and Prodigy ‘08 were events that saw enthusiastic participation from schools and considerable support from the college authorities, cementing its success and purpose in refining the perception of students towards Management education.

With each passing year Prodigy promises to be more innovative and grander than the previous one. Prodigy ’09 will be BIGGER, BETTER and GRANDER!!
